Band: Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion - Dynamic Jazz-Blues

Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion – dynamic blues-jazz

ZSBC have a strong foot hold in both jazz and blues, and skilfully blend them together in a seamless way that defies pigeonholes.  The live set swings beautifully no matter what the groove, combining influences ranging from Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, to more contemporary artists.  The instrumentalists in the band are popular, well established familiar names.  Zoe’s dynamic and commanding vocal delivery is complimented by the unmistakable touch and flow of Rob Koral-guitar, and the highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete Whittaker-Hammond organ (Art Themen, Theo Travis, The Filthy Six, John Etheridge) and Eddie John-drums (Jim Mullen, Tina May, Andy Sheppard, Jo Fooks, Stackridge, Julian Marc Stringle).  Zoe and Rob are a “nationally regarded couple, it tells in the power and professionalism of their performance…” - Blues Matters Magazine.

There is diversity, depth, and uniqueness to the band's music, where each of the band members is given the freedom to express their musical prowess and stamp their magic to the songwriting of Zoë and Rob.  A testament to their chemistry is the sheer volume of music written and recorded, with ‘Colourful House’ (Oct 2025) being their 7th studio album in 14 years; and a consistent and healthy gigging schedule.

“A great band. Terrific musicians all four of them” - Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2

“This is a band of exceptional quality, fronted by the stellar vocals of Zoe Schwarz; you really shouldn't miss the opportunity to enjoy them” - Live Review, Brian Harrington, Arlington Arts, Newbury Times,

“A different level of class ... Zoe's vocal: powerful yet vulnerable ... Rob, Pete and [Paul] turned out a masterclass in Schofieldesque sophistication” - Live Review, 100 club London, Blues in Britain Magazine Apr 2019

“Innovative spark, virtuoso playing and a dare-devil attitude” – Pete Feenstra, Get Ready to Rock Magazine
