Quite unusually, for us at least, the song Venus ain’t so far away literally started with just the title. We then asked poet Pete Feenstra to write some lyrics to fit. Next came a few simple chords, that on their own felt a little naive. However it’s surprising how something so basic can spring to life when combining both the lyrics and music. Once this process started the next section quickly fell into place, then with a tweak here and there it very quickly became something we are proud to have written. Perhaps not surprisingly this song has a real 60s psychedelic feel, and we’re pleased it does, however I can say it wasn’t the plan. But isn’t is’t that always the best scenario..
